Best practices and tips for writing articles on the Unofficial Stars Reach Wiki.
- All content should be in the English language.
- It is everyone's responsibility to ensure that the information contained herein is factually accurate and presented in a neutral and concise manner.
- Please ensure that all substantial information is backed up with a citation from an official source.
- Please don't duplicate information.
- Use templates, where available.
- Always check if information or images exist prior to adding new content.
- Nothing is set in stone, not even the wiki structure or these help pages. If you dispute anything in the wiki, make a comment on the appropriate discussion page, and/or, edit the article in question to correct the information, and/or, make a post on the wiki support forum.
These policies and guidelines apply to all content pages of this wiki. All content must also comply with legal and copyright laws.

Headings
Headings help to organize an article and its content. Please always begin with Heading 1 (the largest). Heading 2 is only slightly smaller text, and still creates a horizontal bar below the heading. Therefore, it is permissable to jump to Heading 3 when a second horizontal bar is not desired.
Using a minimum of 3 Heading 1 headings on a page will automatically generate a Table of Contents for the page. Please organize article content using this structure for consistency, as well as to help readers quickly navigate through the content on the page and throughout this wiki.

Lists
There are two types of lists, Numbered and Bulleted. Numbered lists increase sequentially for each item in a list at the same indent level. Bulleted lists use a simple bullet for each item in a list at the same indent level.
Numbered List items are preceeded by a pound (#) character. Bulleted List items arer preceeeded by an asterisk (*) character.
Indenting, or tabbing, a Numbered list will start the numbering process from 1 at that indent level. Indenting, or tabbing, a Bulleted list will change the style of the bullets for that indent level.
In order to indent, or tab, and item in a list, simply add an additional character (# for Numbered, * for Bulleted) of the list type, up to 5. Do not skip over an indentation level, else multiple Numbers or Bullets will print.

References
Any material that is challenged or likely to be challenged, and for all quotations used, a citation (or reference) is mandatory. This helps maintain the verifiability and integrity of this wiki.
Reference Types
- An Inline citation should be included close to the material it supports (i.e. after a sentence or paragraph).
- in-text attribution should be included immediately following any direct quote.
- A general reference can be included when an entire article is from a single source, or if the source offers supplemental information to the overall article without a direct reference.
Reference Examples
When referencing a single source, please use the following structure as a template:

When using the same reference more than once in an article, give the reference a name. Using the example above, it would look like this: (replacing "text" with an appropriate name, retaining the quotes).
<ref name="text">Short Description of Source [https://www.source.com/ Link] 31 January 2024</ref>
Then you can refer back to this same reference further in the article by calling that name again with a much smaller snippet of code, like this: (with "text" being the name you assigned the reference earlier, retaining the quotes).

The final text and heading on every article should be =References= for listing references. There should be no text below this when editing an article.
Dates
Dates can appear in a variety of formats across the world. For this reason, a standard date format of DD MMM YYYY (31 Jan 2024) has been adopted for this wiki. This military format is one of the most recognized globally, according to Wikipedia.[1]
