Playable Worlds has said that they plan to allow players to heavily customize the appearance of their characters.[1] From trailers, screenshots, and concept art, we currently assume players will choose a species and body type. Additional customizations within the character creation process are likely, but have not yet been revealed.
Playable Species (Races?)
So far, we've seen four unique playable species (races?):
- Humans
- Cat-People
- Ape-people
- Demon-people
Classless Characters
Moreover, Stars Reach was designed with a classless system in mind. Meaning, players will not choose a class or role prior to entering the world. Instead, all players enter the world equally and the activities players choose to pursue will determine their role within the world.
Raph Koster explained their decision to choose a classless system in a Reddit thread in /r/MMORPG titled, Classless design is overrated".[2] His response is below:
"Class based structures were designed for games that only center on combat. Classless systems were designed to accommodate more ways to play, on even footing with combat."
